Halloween in Iowa City!

Already two weekends ago for Halloween and my birthday we went to Iowa City to see Aunt Lindsay and Uncle John. It was Bella's first big trip. She did a great job and was a great little Hawkeye.

Here Bella is cheering on the Hawks in her Iowa gear! Iowa beat Indiana!

Bella and I watching the game on my birthday. The Hawkeyes pulled off a 4th quarter win!

Our little Lady bug! We saw Stanzie at Iowa Power and Light and were star struck :-)

Aunt Lindsay with Chloe and Bella. I love Lindsay's new hair cut.

Overall it was a great birthday weekend with family and an Iowa victory!

Baby Isabella

Isabella Mae Schmitt
August 26, 2009
7 lbs. 14oz.
21 inches

Well I have not been great at keeping things updated but now that I have a little more time I thought I would try again.
Isabella Mae was born August 26th by C-section after a few long days at the hospital. We couldn't be happier with our little angel. She came out a little brusied up but is just perfect. I was shocked that she had light hair and eyes, we will have to see what her hair color ends up looking like.

First Family Photo!

Below are a bunch of photos from the last 9 weeks of our little Bella Boo. I promise to do better at keeping this updated! Enjoy!

My best friend

Well with the baby getting closer and because I have only posted once I thought I better get back on updating everyone with what is going on.

This summer has been hard many ups and downs. As many of you know Grandma Doris is now with Grandpa in heaven. I think that is why I have not wanted to write again because it makes it that much more real. I would have to say she was my best friend and I miss our almost daily phone conversations. She was very excited for our little one to arrive and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her and miss her. I know how much she wanted to hold our little one and she was so excited we were having a little girl. Baby Schmitt will always have the best angle looking over her. We are naming her after Grandma Doris Mae with her middle name being Mae. I can't wait to tell her all about Grandma and what a great kind loving person she was. We are keeping the babies first name as a surprise but Grandma did know the name because it was hard to keep anything from her.

Everything is going great with our pregnancy. I have felt the best I have the entire nine months. I told Colin I think it is Grandma helping me along the way. Not to much longer and our little one will be here. Colin is busy as we speak getting the house ready. I think his nesting kicked into high gear over the weekend. I already know he is going to be the best dad. He has been a big help and support through this summer with Grandma and the pregnancy. I couldn't ask for him to be more helpful and good to me.
A few close girlfriends had a shower for me Friday night and I want to thank them for putting it together. It was a perfect night with close family and friends home to help us celebrate Baby Schmitt. Lindsay came all the way from North Liberty and it was great to see her over the weekend. She will be a great aunt and is already spoiling Baby Schmitt. Colin's mom Terri made us a beautiful quilt for the baby and mom had the cutest outfit for her. Grandma Rosie also came from the lakes and she had a really neat diaper bag full of goodies for her. Katie Schmitt came from Ames and had an entire basket full of the cutest stuff including a really neat baby book that we are already filling out. Thanks again everyone for all the gifts and the perfect enjoyable night.
Not much else new here, I will try and be better at updating more often. I will also be posting more pics. The picture of Grandma and I is one of my favorites.

Baby Schmitt

We decided we better start a blog so someday we can show our family how we came to be. Monday we found out that we are having a girl during ourfirst ultrasound. It was very exciting because we did not get to have one at 10 weeks like many of my friends.

Above is the first picture of our little girl who is 7 inches long and weighs in at 7 oz. right now. We are due on my Dad's birthday August 22nd.
